Welcome to our new format for newsletters and progress updates. The NWT Mining Heritage Society has a busy year planned and in order to inform our membership of upcoming activities, we have designed this formal newsletter which we plan to mail out several times a year.

I hope that everyone had a good Yule Tide and that 2007 is an exceptionally good year for you all. The NWT MINING HERITAGE SOCIETY has certainly grown and is planning for a busy 2007. Due to our growth and to the size and complexity of the projects we are undertaking, we will have to adjust the way we do things a little.

Geoscience Forum: The NWT Geoscience Forum is an annual conference held in Yellowknife in November. The Society has a booth at the trade show to update delegates on our activities, to sell things and to sign up members.

This update covers our society's activities between July and September of 2006, the busiest months of the year as the outdoor projects are continued during the short northern summers.

This update covers our Society's activities during April, May and June of 2006. Our outdoor projects have commenced, and we are pleased to announce that preparations are being made for repair and renovations to the old Recreation Hall, which will become our Interpretive Center.

This update covers our society's activities between January and March of 2006. While winter puts a halt to most of our outdoor activities, work continues in the planning, promotion, fundraising, and organization process of creating our mining museum.

Our society had an active early winter season in 2005. In September, Walt Humphries gave a talk to the Rotary Club to keep them up to date on our activities and plans for the future. In October, we had an open house at the future museum site and took approximately 35 people on a tour of the warehouse and recreation hall.
