Information for Artists
Interested in having your art displayed at the Yellowknife Historical Museum? You may have questions about what that entails. We have included the following information for your convenience. If you have any further questions, send an email to manager@yellowknifehistory.com.
Timeline: Applications for this first round are CLOSED. Artists will be notified of the results the first week of May. We hope to begin our first showing in June.
Compensation:
Artists will receive payment through the direct sale of their displayed artwork. When a piece is purchased, the artist will be compensated based on the agreed sale price, with the museum retaining a modest commission. This arrangement ensures that the artist benefits from the exposure their work receives while providing the museum with a small share to support its operations. All terms, including the commission percentage, will be clearly outlined and mutually agreed upon in a formal contract to maintain transparency and fairness.
Display System:
The method we are using to display art is called the Walker Display system. Walker Display art systems are a straightforward, damage-free solution for showcasing artwork. They use picture rails, rods, or cables, and adjustable hooks to hang pieces securely. This system allows for easy rearrangement and flexibility. For more information, please see their website.
Our Space:
