From the staking of the original claims in 1935 and the start of gold production in 1938, the Con Mine has been an integral part of Yellowknife’s development as a modern northern city.Through three owners over a 65-year period, the mine variously struggled and flourished, but has always provided employment and other opportunities for many of the city’s residents, either directly or through spin-off businesses.

Although the Con ore bodies are now depleted and the mine undergoing final reclamation, one of the legacies that is left are the many memories of the people that worked at the mine over the years.
