The NWT Mining Heritage Society is proud to introduce its the new coordinator, Tracey Breitbach. Tracey is a Yellowknife girl and is well known to most of us for her work with Folk On The Rocks. The job advertisement produced 19 applicants. Many thanks go out to John Clark, Mike Vaydik, Ryan Silke and Walt Humphries for reviewing the applications.

» moreA crew under the direction of Eddie Paul's 'Nextreme' company has begun work on the foundation wall of the Recreation Hall at Giant Mine, the proposed mining museum.
» moreOn Wednesday June 6, 2012, we had a work party at the site and got a lot accomplished. We put a coat of varathane on the new picnic tables, the head frame was fixed up and painted, flowers were planted and we painted the pony wall under the rec hall above the new foundation. It was a good start to a long list of chores.

» moreThe NWT Mining Heritage Society‘s exhibit – "UNDERGROUND: The life of a Yellowknife Gold Miner" opened at the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre. The display is near the entrance to the auditorium and will be on display until July 3, 2012.

» moreA big thank you to our members who came out to the Christmas Party at the Baker's Centre on Demcember 17. Everyone enjoyed food and treats and a special slideshow of photos from the collection of the Society.
We also presented 'lifetime memberships' to former directors Mike Byrne and Yvonne Quick in appreciate for all of their work over the years in preserving mining heritage.
