Yellowknife lost another piece of its heritage on July 16th, when the Burn's Meat Warehouse, located at Con Camp, burned down. It is believed to have been the act of vandals. Although the structure was destined to be demolished later this summer, it is sad to think that it had to go in such a fashion.

The month of March found many of our members out of town on business or pleasure, therefore little or no work was done. No meetings were held.

Our monthly Board meeting was held on February 13 2003.Director Mike Beauregard announced his resignation from the Board due to his busy schedule. He is still interested in our Society's work and will remain as a general member. This resignation includes stepping down from his duties as Chair of the Membership Committee. A big thanks to Mike for his help!

Monday, Dec 30th, 2002

Due to the holiday season, December was a rather quiet month for our members. No meetings were held, however about 40 members, family and friends assembled at the Prospector on December 15 for a potluck "get-together" -- the first annual we hope. We sold a few calendars, received a few donations and signed up a few new members.

oing into the month of November, our society members had their lives spinning with chores. The 2002 NWT Geoscience Forum was approaching!

The Society's first general meeting was held October 3rd. Five committee groups were suggested and chair person's elected for each. They are as follows:

Monday, Sep 30th, 2002

The Society's first annual general meeting was held September 25th 2002 in Yellowknife, NWT. An attendance of 20 individuals was recorded. Our first Board of Directors was elected and consists of the following 9 society members:

No meeting was held during the month. Our first Annual General Meeting as a registered society is scheduled for mid September.

Artifact collection continued. Two trips were made to Discovery Mine by Ryan Silke and Wayne Bryant to collect some interesting items. Discovery is scheduled to be cleaned up in the coming years by the Federal Government.
