Update January 2002

Happy New Year! Our group met mid month to start planning the upcoming year. Once we had got our financial dealings out of the way, we discussed our future plans. Again, we discussed the options for fixing the buildings at Giant. But as we felt we needed a better picture painted of the condition of our buildings, we decided to hire some engineers to determine the structural stability of the Rec Hall, Commissary, and Powerhouse. We would like to know which building will be the least expensive to fix up, focussing first on stability, and then asthetics.

Wayne Bryant contacted three engineering firms, two of which replied and agreed to write up a preliminary report on the buildings. At the end of the month, time had been arranged for a visit on February 1st, and the results of this visit, when known, will be reported in next months update.
