It is with deep sorrow and much love that we announce the passing of Annette Lemay. Annette died peacefully on Tuesday May 3rd, 2022 just 145 days short of her 100th birthday. Annette was predeceased by her loving husband Aurel, of 63 years, and leaves behind many friends and family members.
Annette was born in Montreal and moved to Yellowknife in 1951. In May of 1952 she married Aurel and they made Yellowknife their home for the years that followed. She often recalled her favourite memories of when she first arrived, especially the taste of the cold water from Great Slave Lake and how it made tea taste so good!
A member of the Catholic Women's League for over 50 years, Annette's smiling face and helping hands were a constant presence at the St. Patrick's Church Flea Market for many decades. Throughout the years, Annette loved animals, relished the company of her "Thursday Afternoon Group of Ladies", meals shared with "Friday's Lunch with a Bunch", and enjoyed a variety of crafting pursuits. At Avens Manor, where Annette resided for the past 7 years, she was always eager to share her cookies, candies, and a story or two over a cup of tea with the many staff members and resident friends that would frequently pop by to visit in her room.
The Gauthier family would like to offer their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Christine Scott and all of the staff at Avens Manor for the loving care they provided Annette over the last number of years.
Donations can be made in Annette's honour to the Avens Manor or the Alzheimer Society of Alberta and NWT
