Thanks to our members and sponsors for supporting mining heritage during the annual Geoscience Forum in Yellowknife. The mining and geology tradeshow was at a different venue this year but this did not stop the public and people connected to the industry from making it a great event. The NWT Mining Heritage Society was offered to help host the NWT Night social event, sponsored by the Government of the NWT, Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment, Mineral Resources Division. Our group helped volunteer the event which included speeches by industry delegates and a historical slideshow presentation organized by our group. It was a big hit, and for our involvement the GNWT donated all proceeds from the door tickets to the Society - over $7000! A huge thanks to the GNWT and Mineral Resources director Pamela Strand and Geoscience Forum coordinator Cheryl Wourms at the NWT & Nunavut Chamber of Mines for organizing the event.
